Pumps For Cannabis Irrigation

Pumps are the driving force of any Cannabis Irrigation System, and can be the most common mistake many growers make when designing a Drip Irrigation System.  Generally, there are two common types of pumps used for small to medium sized craft cannabis growing operations;

  • Jet Pumps - Jet pumps can be used for both small to large systems and provide the PSI and flow rate needed for powering pressure compensating emitters.  When combined with a pressure switch (higher end models often have this built in) they can be used for multiple zoned systems from the same water source.
  • Pond Style Pumps - Although a pond style pump often puts out a significant volume of water they rarely have the pressure to run pressure compensating emitters effectively and commonly have a maximum PSI of under 10.  However they can be used effectively with smaller open flow systems such as our HOMEG kits which don't require pressure compensating emitters.
